To gain the most from the web site, both teachers and pupils should study the relevant historical sections before attempting any of the activities in the resources.

Ideally class visits should be made to the historic sites, however much can be learned from investigating this website.

These resources can be downloaded for storage on computer, or printed off and photocopied for later use in the classroom.

The resources have been planned to help develop the learning process and we hope that pupils will enjoy using them; they may be easily adapted to suit the requirements of other age groups and abilities.

The resources are linked to current National Curriculum requirements in England, in particular History KS 2/3. Additional links can also be made to English (Literacy and Drama), Mathematics (Number), ICT, Art and Design, Citizenship.

The Humanities are ideally suited to various Thinking Skills strategies. The website uses examples of Learning from Stories and Mysteries as learning tools, the Archie and Mary story, and the Radcliffes of Dilston (Jacobites).

Download Tynedale Teachers' Pack pdf - (1.2mb) The Tynedale Teachers' Pack is dedicated to the heritage attractions at Hexham and outreach attractions currently supported by Tynedale Council Museums Service. It contains all you need to know about the sites, how to plan class visits and activities.
